Mapping Sustainability Initiatives on Gotland and Collaboration with the University Campus.
What kind of sustainability related initiatives are being allocated to Gotland? Is there overlap in terms of topics and objectives? Do different societal actors know about each other, and how they see the sustainable development of the island and their role in this process? Are they cooperating with UU Campus Gotland and in what way? Do they regard this cooperation as a beneficial source of expertize, as a “mandatory formal” part of their social responsibility program, or as an additional administrative burden to their main work?
Oleksandra Khalaim is a Visiting Researchers at Swedish International Centre of Education for Sustainable Development (SWEDESD). Her current research is devoted to mapping sustainability related initiatives on Gotland outside the Uppsala university campus that belong to different societal actors: regional administration bodies, businesses, civil society organizations and individual activists.
Oleksandra is investigating also existing forms of collaboration between the UU Campus Gotland study programs and external local stakeholders around sustainability, as well as possibilities to bring them together under the ESD Learning Lab expertize umbrella, forming this as a common communication platform. In August-October 2020, a series of interviews with campus academic staff from all locally presented study programs and stakeholders outside the university is being conducted.
During this TRUST seminar, we will discuss the presented research structure and the questionnaire design. What and how can questions be asked to locals in order to elicit their real views on sustainability, as well as their real intentions? Oleksandra very much welcomes a brainstorming and some feedback on the survey design!
