Codex Regius of the Eddic Poems
In this lecture I will talk about the Codex Regius of the Eddic Poems, which is considered the most valuable Icelandic manuscript. The book itself is not much for the eye but it contains 29 eddic poems and 9 independent prose texts and it is the content that makes the book famous and important. I will first talk a little about the book itself and its appearance and what is known about its history, but then I will talk about the script, the abbreviations and the errors the scribe made.
