Gene Regulation - from TGFβ receptor towards SLC transporters
Gene regulation remains an important part of the life science research. Gene regulation in cancerous cells by post-translation modifications by PARP and PARG proteins could dictate the function of a gene in-turn regulating TGFβ signalling. Technologies based on genomics and proteomics dominate the research on novel gene functions and novel gene targets. CRISPR-Cas9 based tools complementing with genome wide studies on transcription factors Snail1 and ZEB1 facilitated to demonstrate novel mechanisms downstream of TGFβ signalling.
Solute Carrier (SLC) superfamily has been studies less compared to other transporters. They were presumed to have therapeutic purposes. Nevertheless, many of the transporters still remain unexplored from the point of substrate, inhibitor etc., By taking advantage of the new technologies like CRISPR-Cas9, proteomics and metabolomics we would like to explore the substrate of these transporters and gene regulation downstream of the transporter.
