What is the main threat to democracy today, and how can it be defended and revitalised anew? Welcome to a public event at the Humanities Theatre where we will address these issues with the help of three distinguished scholars in the field: Sheri Berman, Jan-Werner Müller and Nadia Urbinati. Democracy is under duress, and this trend can be witnessed both in new and established democracies. Central tenets of a well-functioning democracy – such as free media outlets, the veracity of elections, the need for an independent judiciary and civil society and academic freedom– are either dismantled, or provoking fierce debate.

Drinks and snacks will be served after the event. Welcome!

Please register here no later than May 9

The event will be live streamed for those who wish to participate online. The link will be posted here prior to the event.
